Surfing in Dewata

Dewata is a surf spot in southern Sri Lanka near Unawatuna and Galle. It is often used for short sessions when Unawatuna bay is too soft or when you want a nearby break with more workable waves.
Good for beginners: partly; for consistent first-step progression most people start in Weligama, while Dewata is better with an instructor and spot-specific timing.
Equipment rental: basic rental is usually available around Unawatuna and nearby surf areas.
How to get there: from Colombo, it is usually 2-3 hours to the Galle/Unawatuna area, then another 10-20 minutes local transfer to Dewata.
